Hoogleraar Yra van Dijk heeft een subsidie toegekend gekregen van NWO voor internationaal onderzoek. De subsidie Internationalisering in de geesteswetenschappen is bedoeld om samenwerking tussen Nederlandse en buitenlandse onderzoeksgroepen op het terrein van de geesteswetenschappen te bevorderen.

Hoe kunnen we onze maatschappij zo inrichten dat de wereld leefbaar blijft voor onszelf en al het andere leven om ons heen? Aan dat vraagstuk werken Leidse wetenschappers samen vanuit allerlei disciplines, van biologie tot datawetenschap en van milieueconomie tot archeologie.

Sinds 2009-2010 beschouwt het Westen China als assertiever. Vooral nadat Xi Jinping in 2012 aan de macht kwam, heeft het land Deng Xiaoping’s low profile-buitenlandbeleid laten varen. Friso Stevens legt in zijn proefschrift uit waar deze verandering vandaan komt. De verdediging is op 28 maart.

Het Data Science Onderzoeksprogramma (DSO) combineert Leidse promotieonderzoeken uit allerlei disciplines met data science. Het programma loopt nu ruim twee jaar, en levert verrassende eerste resultaten op. Hieronder vertellen een aantal promovendi over hun ervaringen en hun onderzoek.

Europa leeft! Dat bleek afgelopen vrijdag toen studenten met de Franse ambassadeur in Nederland, H.E. Luis Vassy en zijn Duitse collega H.E. Dirk Brengelmann, in discussie gingen over allerlei thema’s rond Frans-Duitse betrekkingen en de Europese Unie.

Samen met wetenschappers van over de hele wereld streeft de ENIGMA-Anxiety Werkgroep ernaar om meer inzicht te krijgen in de neurobiologische karakteristieken van angststoornissen.
