In het Regionaal Archief Alkmaar is een bijzondere vondst gedaan: in een aantal zeventiende-eeuwse boekbanden zaten stukjes perkament van een handschrift uit de elfde eeuw. Het handschrift behoorde mogelijk toe aan een prinses die Engeland ontvluchtte na de Normandische verovering van 1066.
