Making data sharing possible in the context of the GDPR
De voertaal van het Data Management Network is Engels.
Working with personal data can be challenging, especially in collaborative projects with partners from outside the university. In this Connect & Learn session we’ll hear about data sharing from the researcher’s practice from:
- Dr. Mark Dechesne, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs. Mark will tell us about the approach taken by the DARE consortium. This H2020 project involving 17 academic and non-academic partners in 13 countries is dealing with highly sensitive data on radicalisation.
- Dorien Huijser Msc, datamanager at the Brain and Development Research Center of the Institute of Psychology. In the mids of the pandemic, part of her lab moved to Erasmus University, taking sensitive developmental neuroscience data with them. She will shortly discuss the steps they took to make this happen and evaluate what they would do differently next time.
- The central privacy office will share some interesting use cases.
From these examples and the subsequent discussion we hope to get more insights into barriers and solutions to enable researchers to share data without worries.
This event is part of the “Connect and …” series of meetings arranged by, and for, the Leiden University Data Management Network.
The meetings take around the middle of the month, every month, at different days and times, so as to maximize access according to people’s different working hours. Topics and speakers are proposed by members of the Network.
