13:00 - 14:00 - Opening of the Leiden Research Support Conference (English)
A strong collegial network is becoming increasingly important for professional practice within the field of research support. Our panel will explore the different types of networks, the national and international context, and the University strategy with our Rector Magnificus Hester Bijl. The session will be hosted by Christian Jagersma, Chair of ARMA NL.
14:15 - 17:00 - Building communities: creating a toolkit together (English)
How would you define your community, and do these characteristics indicate the kinds of tools you need to help it flourish? During this practical workshop we’ll look together at the Leiden communities we are part of, or that we support, and consider what tools and solutions are needed to help those communities efficiently communicate, develop, and evolve.
09:15 - 10:00 - How Luris Supports Knowledge Translation (English)
Luris is the Knowledge Exchange/Technology Transfer office for Leiden University. But what do they do? And how can they help in translating research into impact? Working through real cases we will together uncover ways of getting research from all different disciplines out of the university and into society.
09:30 - 12:00 - How to deal with the changes in the funding landscape (English)
Everyone can read the call texts and rules for funding. Reading between the lines, however, can be more challenging. This online session in combination with some background reading is intended to strengthen your knowledge about every grant type and empower you to guide researchers, even the know-it-alls, to success.
12:30 - 14:00 - Ethics committees: framework and boundaries (English)
An ethics committee reviews, informs, monitors and occasionally even rejects research proposals. Ideas about ethics committees can vary considerably. In this workshop we will explore the framework and boundaries of our activities in order to define our place in the research cycle.

10:15 - 11:15 - Including digital privacy & security in your research (English)
In an ever-changing digital landscape, how can you keep your research safe from privacy and security risks? In this talk Max van Arnhem (Privacy Officer at the Faculty of Humanities) and Nina Elzinga-Langeveld (Security Officer at the Faculty of Humanities) will give you some tips & tricks and some guidance on how to become risk aware in the digital era.
11:30 - 13:30 - Behind the scenes of legal support (including lunch) (English)
At this moment our scientists are probably working on their research, writing publications or maybe looking for ways to fund their research. To them, putting a contract in place may seem like just a legal formality. In today’s workshop we will demonstrate why that’s not the case and how to illuminate this to our scientists. Contracts are not merely there to eliminate risks and/or provide certain protection, contracts also serve the higher purpose of creating possibilities and enabling collaborations. In this workshop we will use examples from practice to demonstrate certain risks and what kind of protection the contracts can offer. We will provide you with tools to learn how to recognize the different contracts and associated risks and how to explain this to our scientists. We don’t need you to be the legal, that’s our job! We do want you to feel empowered.
13:15 - 14:15 - Sharing Best Practice Lab 2: Communities & Communication (English)
For those who work together with colleagues and would like to learn from others how to communicate within a network or community. Join us to find out more about the profession of Research Manager and Administrator (RMA) and to explore career perspectives.
14:30 - 16:30 - How to train researchers to think about impact in their research proposals… (English)
