We are delighted to announce the launch of the eLaw Summer School on the theme of 'Regulating AI and Data in the Age of EU Digital Reforms'. This summer school will take place from Monday 24 June to Friday 28 June 2024 at Leiden University. It is a unique educational opportunity for individuals who already have a background in law and digital technologies (including graduates, PhD researchers, Data Protection Officers (DPOs), professionals and members of institutions).
Duration and structure: The five-day programme will be packed with insightful sessions each morning and engaging workshop activities in the afternoon.
Speakers: Each day will feature two eminent speakers in the morning from the academia, institutions and the businessworld , offering a rich diversity of perspectives on the topics at hand.
Interactive workshops: The afternoon sessions will be dedicated to hands-on workshop activities, allowing participants to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios and engage in meaningful discussions.
Limited enrolment: There is space for up to 45 participants, including 15 slots for online participants. This ensures focused learning environment.
Programme topics
The eLaw Summer School will cover a range of critical topics at the forefront of EU digital reforms, including:
- An in-depth look at the GDPR six years after its approval, exploring the many silent reforms that have taken place, in connection with DMA, DGA, DSA, DA, AIA.
- Comprehensive analysis of the AI Act, discussing its details, rules, opportunities and challenges both in the commercial field and in criminal law and the law enforcement sector.
- Examination of the interaction between AI regulation, the Data Protection framework and privacy case law.
- An overview of platform regulation across various EU rules, from the Digital Services Act (DSA) to the consumer protection acquis.
- Discussion on the Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment in the context of different legislations (GDPR, AI Act, DSA) and digital vulnerability.
