All levels (from beginner to advanced)
Content
The course introduces the participants to the work of Shakespeare on stage, in particular the sonnets and soliloquies. We explore how to access inner creativity and the sharing of creative ideas through movement, group exercises, voice and text work.
We will work to build the confidence to be seen and heard in the Shakespearean language, to learn how to connect with a heightened text from your heart and communicate them in an authentic way. We explore ensemble theater in an atmosphere where creativity, playfulness, curiosity, and self-expression are encouraged and celebrated.
At the end of the course there is a possibility to participate in a showing of the work on stage in a theater. (planned 26 May 2026)
Teacher
Kirsten Bakker is trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the course of Shakespeare and contemporary theatre before continuing her studies at the Fontainebleau school of Acting. She performed at the Shakespeare Upon Avon Festival in Avon, in the production Checkovia (Theatre Municipal de Fontainebleau) and at the Dickens Festival in The Hague.
She is committed to making (inter)national, simple and bold work which reflects our human experience, and is particularly interested in exploring stories in relation to the power of authenticity, while celebrating the ensemble, different languages and bodies.
