Assistant professor in Developmental Neuroscience (0.6fte - 1.0 fte)

Key Responsibilities
•    Developing and/or furthering an independent research line via external funding;
•    Making research results public in peer-reviewed journals, at scientific conferences and other professional meetings;
•    Sharing the research results with a wider audience through (social) media and other public outreach;
•    Teaching BSc and MSc courses in Child and Adolescent Psychology, School psychology and Research master specializations and supervising BSc and MSc research projects;
•    Participation in administrative and organizational tasks;
•    Participation in the Dutch Society for Developmental Psychology (VNOP)
 
Selection Criteria
•    A strong research record, evident from (among others) a completed PhD thesis (in English) and peer-reviewed international publications on topics in developmental neuroscience or related fields;
•    Strong statistical and methodological skills (e.g., computational modeling; programming; neuroimaging (fMRI and/or EEG)); 
•    Active valorization of research, collaboration with industrial / non-academic parties;
•    Excellent teaching abilities, and experience with various types of teaching and supervision of students at different stages of their education;
•    Contributing to a positive work environment and open science;
•    Preference for candidate with substantial knowledge of psychopathology in children and adolescents and intervention;

Our organization
The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences conducts high-quality research and offers a broad and disciplinary educational programme, focused on increasing our understanding of current developments in society. The faculty consists of five institutes: Centre for Science and Technology Studies, Cultural Anthropology and Developmental Sociology, Education and Child Studies, Political Science and Psychology. The Institute of Psychology has six units: Developmental and Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Health, Medical and Neuropsychology, Social and Organizational Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Methods and Statistics. The Institute of Psychology has excellent facilities for experimental research because of the Bèta funding and the collaboration with the Leiden University Medical Center. For research at our institute LIBC we offer an exciting research environment including EEG, fMRI, eye tracking, virtual reality, and brain stimulation. The education and research of the Developmental and Educational Psychology section covers a broad area: neurocognitive and social-emotional development, educational neuroscience, developmental psychopathology and the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and social-emotional problems in children and adolescents.

Terms and conditions
The appointment is flexible between 0.6fte - 1.0 fte. The teaching tasks cover 40-60% of the appointment. We offer a fixed-term position for one year. Salary range from € 3,821 to € 5,243 gross per month on a full-time basis (pay scale 11, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
