Een wereldberoemd lichtexperiment uit 1801, nu voor het eerst uitgevoerd met geluid. Het onderzoek van Leidse natuurkundigen leverde nieuwe kennis op, die onder andere toegepast kan worden in 5G-apparatuur en het onderzoeksgebied quantum-akoestiek.

Röntgenspiegels: nuttig in de ruimte, maar ook voor bestralingstherapie
Een speciaal soort spiegel om röntgenstraling te weerkaatsen kun je voor veel meer gebruiken dan alleen voor ruimteonderzoek. Voor gerichte bestralingstherapie bij kanker bijvoorbeeld. Fysicus David Girou bracht naast een fulltime baan de mogelijkheden in kaart en promoveert daarop op 14 juni.
