2-day workshop 'holding while held - exercises in reciprocity'
Friday 20 & Friday 17 March 15:00-18:00 h
- Docent
- Emilie Gallier
For whom
Everyone welcome. The class is an environment for curiosity to thrive in multimodal ways. Come as you are and with all your playful selves!
Content
With two decades of experience as teaching artist, dancer gardener, and poet, Emilie Gallier gathers different worlds into her practice. In the workshop Holding While Held, she shares situations where the body can rest and support other bodies’s rest.
The class builds on somatic practice techniques and dance improvisation with trust in the intelligence of our bodies. We explore weight in relation to the ground, and to other surfaces. We ask our bodies to grow roots and relate with other beings. We return fluids to soils, downward. Waterfall run through our spine and heads. We exercise reciprocity.
This workshop can greatly combine with the Dance Improvisation course Soil Connections.
Teacher
Emilie Gallier is dance artist, researcher, and gardener based in Leiden (Netherlands) and Les Minières (France). Her multimodal practice shapes her writing and performance making with soils, humans, and other animals. With her brother, living-soils gardener, Emilie co-founded Les Minières where gardening and art making gather. At the Amsterdam University of the Arts, and with Nienke Terpsma and Nina Boas she studies inclined bodies and earthworms.
