Zwart-wit foto’s vol plechtige jongemannen en deftige professoren passeren de revue in het Groot Auditorium. Jonge vrouwen ontbreken. Zij promoveerden vijftig jaar geleden zelden. En over die groep, de promovendi tussen ‘66 en ’72, gaat het. Zij zijn uitgenodigd om hun gouden doctoraat te vieren.
