Prof. Paul van der Heijden (Internationaal Arbeidsrecht) heeft een subsidie van 50.000 euro ontvangen van de stad Den Haag om een begin te maken met de bouw van een databank Business & Human Rights.

Darinka Piqani en Moritz Jesse, beiden verbonden aan het Europa Instituut Leiden, waren uitgenodigd als sprekers bij het Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights dat deel uitmaakt van de Rechtenfaculteit van de Charles Universiteit in Praag.

Diverse types of exoplanets such as gas giants on close-in orbits (hot Jupiters) and young massive giants on wide orbits (super Jupiters), with no analogs in the Solar System, pose challenges but also opportunities to our understanding of planet formation and evolution.

Eigenlijk waren ze op zoek naar de genetische basis van vuurgebruik bij de mens, maar wetenschappers uit Leiden en Wageningen ontdekten iets heel anders: aanwijzingen in het DNA dat de moderne mens slechter kan omgaan met giftige stoffen in rook dan neanderthalers en zelfs mensapen.
