In this bring-your-own-lunch discussion we will focus on the ethical challenges of working in politically sensitive environments.
Key questions:
- Can archaeologists ever be politically neutral?
- Does participation imply endorsement of political systems or actors?
- When is refusing to work the more ethical choice?
- What responsibilities do archaeologists have beyond research?
