Nederland doet het vaak bovengemiddeld goed als het gaat om de bescherming van persoonsgegevens, zo blijkt uit onderzoek van de Universiteit Leiden. Duitsland is koploper, landen als Italië en Roemenië blijven achter.

Als het aan de Tweede Kamer ligt, kunnen vluchtgegevens van alle Nederlanders binnenkort voor vijf jaar worden opgeslagen in een overheidsdatabase. Gerrit-Jan Zwenne denkt dat de wet veel problemen met zich mee kan brengen. Er worden namelijk ook gegevens gedeeld met landen buiten de EU.

Poppodium TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht gaat camerabrillen verbieden. Dit doet de organisatie naar aanleiding van een incident vorige maand. Bart Schermer, hoogleraar Recht en Digitale Technologie, sprak met BNR Nieuwsradio over strafbaarheid van camerabrillen.

Over minder dan drie maanden is het zover. Dan wordt de Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming, kortweg AVG, van kracht. Volgens Gerrit-Jan Zwenne, hoogleraar recht en de informatiemaatschappij krijgt de privacywaakhond tanden.

Ook dit jaar worden duizenden mensen in Nederland op de dag voor Koningsdag koninklijk onderscheiden. Sommige gemeenten geven de leeftijd vrij van de uitverkorenen, andere gemeenten vinden dat te privacygevoelig.
