Mathilde Verdam en Julian Karch (Methodologie en Statistiek) hebben als mede-aanvragers een subsidie toegekend gekregen van Openscience NL ter bevordering van 'Open software voor statistisch verantwoorde wetenschap'.

De Leiden Science Run 2019 staat in het teken van Scholars at Risk, een programma van Stichting voor Vluchteling-Studenten UAF. Dit programma biedt bedreigde wetenschappers de mogelijkheid om hun onderzoekswerk tijdelijk voort te zetten in een veilige academische omgeving.

Op 20 februari 2019 vond een bijzondere bijeenkomst over data science plaats in de Tweede Kamer. De doelstelling van de bijeenkomst was om met overheidsorganisaties in dialoog te gaan over dataontwikkelingen binnen de overheid.
